Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have issued invitations to apply (ITAs) in its latest Express Entry draw.
A total of 800 ITAs were issued in a French-language proficiency draw, with candidates needing a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 478 to be considered.
This marks the third Express Entry draw of the week, following the previous one on November 13, which invited 400 candidates through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program.
Today’s draw is the third for November and follows the release of Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2025. As part of the Plan, IRCC intends to welcome 124,680 Express Entry candidates next year.
Summary of Express Entry Draw Results in 2024
Candidates who received an ITA in today’s draw will be considered for admissions targets for 2025, which include the newly introduced In-Canada Focus targets for Express Entry applicants or the Federal Economic Priorities category.
The In-Canada Focus target of 82,980 permanent resident admissions will mostly impact temporary residents already in Canada, representing about 40% of Canada’s total economic immigration admissions for 2025.
A significant portion of these candidates will come from Express Entry programs like the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
The Federal Economic Priorities target of 41,700 permanent resident admissions will focus on candidates from all Express Entry-managed programs. These candidates are expected to address urgent gaps in healthcare, and trade occupations, and meet the demographic target for French language proficiency among newcomers outside Quebec.
What is Express Entry? Express Entry is a system that manages applications for three key economic immigration programs for individuals seeking permanent residence: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Candidates are assessed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points based on attributes such as age, occupation, language proficiency, education, and work experience.
Additional points can be earned for having a sibling in Canada, applying with a spouse or partner, or having a combination of Canadian and international work experience or education.
Candidates applying through an enhanced PNP stream can receive an extra 600 points toward their CRS score, effectively guaranteeing an ITA.
The total CRS score determines the likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply in future Express Entry draws, as candidates with the highest scores are prioritized, provided they meet the eligibility requirements for the specific draw category.
